Velvet is far more forgiving than its reputation suggests, provided you never soak it.
The weekly pass
Brush in one direction with a soft upholstery brush. This lifts the pile and removes the dust that dulls the colour long before any stain does.
Spills
Blot, never rub, with a dry cloth. Let it dry fully, then brush the pile back. Most marks disappear entirely at that point.
